Antispyware

By Konstantinos Karagiannis
“The majority of PCs in America are infested with spyware, and PC Magazine continues to find most security suites inadequate to the task of disinfecting them. The explosion of dedicated antispyware apps in the past year began to address the growing problem; here we review eight of the leaders.

Several products were not ready for review. As we go to press, Aluria is about to launch a new version of Spyware Eliminator; the vendor declined to participate for that reason. Tenebril also released a new version of SpyCatcher, but too late for us to test the product. And as we were testing, Microsoft snapped up Giant AntiSpyware, taking it off the market and replacing it with a preview version of its own product (see our review at http://go.pcmag.com/msas).

Note: All prices are for the first year unless otherwise noted.
